What makes a good place to eat on Bonaire?

Ask ten people about the best places to eat in Bonaire and you will probably get ten different answers. Some are looking for freshly caught fish, others want a casual lunch by the sea or a romantic sunset dinner. Families may need a menu with enough choice for everyone, while food lovers might be searching for Caribbean dishes they would not normally eat at home.

For us, a good restaurant experience is about more than the dish in front of you.

The setting matters. So does the welcome you receive, the quality of the ingredients and a menu that gives you enough choice without losing its identity. Add the Caribbean Sea only a few steps from your table and you have a pretty good starting point for an enjoyable lunch or dinner.

That is exactly what we aim for at Breeze ’n Bites.

Dinner on Bonaire sunsets, sea breeze, and a table that invites you to stay

Eat right by the Caribbean Sea

Bonaire is an island shaped by the sea, so why spend your entire dinner looking at four walls?

At Breeze ’n Bites, the Caribbean Sea is part of the experience. Our terrace sits directly on the waterfront at Den Laman. During the day, you can look across the blue water towards Klein Bonaire. Later in the afternoon, the light changes and sunset becomes part of dinner.

There is no need to make the experience formal. Come in after a day exploring the island, enjoy a cocktail or cold drink, order something you like and settle in.

Our location is one reason guests searching for a waterfront restaurant in Bonaire find their way to Breeze ’n Bites.

Where to eat in Bonaire for fresh seafood

For many visitors, eating fresh fish and seafood is simply part of a trip to the Caribbean.

Fish and seafood therefore have an important place in our kitchen. Our selection depends partly on what is fresh and available, and the catch of the day can change accordingly. You may also find dishes such as our home-smoked wahoo, ceviche and shrimp preparations on the menu.

We like letting good seafood speak for itself. Fresh ingredients, careful preparation and flavors that suit the island are more important than making a dish unnecessarily complicated.

Our kitchen combines Caribbean influences with international techniques and ideas. The result is food that fits its surroundings without trying too hard to be something it is not.

Trying some of the island’s flavors should definitely be part of deciding where to eat on Bonaire.

Lunch on Bonaire: take your time by the water

Not every memorable meal needs to happen after sunset.

Breeze ’n Bites is also open for lunch, when the waterfront has a completely different feel. The Caribbean Sea is bright blue, Klein Bonaire is visible across the water and the terrace is a great place to take a break during a day of exploring.

Our lunch menu offers a broad selection. Depending on availability and the current menu, you can choose fresh fish and seafood alongside salads, sandwiches, egg dishes, meat dishes and flammkuchen.

That makes lunch here as suitable for a quick stop as it is for a long afternoon at the table.

Dinner on Bonaire starts with the sunset

The atmosphere changes as afternoon turns into evening. The temperature becomes more comfortable, the light softens and the sun slowly drops towards the horizon.

This is one of our favorite times of day at Breeze ’n Bites.

Order a starter, enjoy a drink and watch the sunset before moving on to the main course. You might choose the catch of the day or another seafood dish, but steak, burgers and vegetarian choices are also available.

It works for a relaxed evening with friends, dinner with the family or a table for two.

Our waterfront tables are particularly popular around sunset, so making a reservation in advance is a good idea if you have a specific evening or time in mind.

Lobster dish Bonaire

Not everyone at the table likes seafood – and that is fine

One person wants fresh fish. Someone else wants a burger. The kids have already decided they want something completely different.

We know how group dinners work.

Although seafood is an important part of Breeze ’n Bites, we have deliberately created a menu with plenty of alternatives. Meat lovers can choose from dishes such as steak and burgers, and we also serve vegetarian options, salads and other international favorites.

Then there are our flammkuchen: thin, crispy bases with different toppings that have developed their own following among our guests. Curious? Find out more about our flammkuchen restaurant and our take on pizza in Bonaire.

It means groups with very different tastes can still share the same table – without somebody having to settle for the only alternative on the menu.

Saturday night? Try our Lobster Night

If lobster is on your Bonaire wish list, Saturday is a good night to visit us.

Our weekly Lobster Night has become one of the restaurant’s popular recurring evenings. Lobster takes center stage, but our regular à la carte menu remains available as well. So if one person is excited about lobster and someone else would rather order steak, fish or a vegetarian dish, you can still dine together.

Availability can vary, so reserving ahead is recommended.

You can find more information about eating lobster at our lobster restaurant in Bonaire.

Thursday has its own Breeze ’n Bites tradition as well: Burger Night. It is another reason local residents and returning visitors regularly find their way back to our waterfront terrace.

Where to eat in Kralendijk?

Most visitors spend at least some time exploring Kralendijk. The colorful center, waterfront and shops make it an easy place to wander around, but you do not have to stay right in the center when it is time to eat.

Breeze ’n Bites is located at Den Laman, a short distance outside downtown Kralendijk. That gives you easy access to town combined with a quieter waterfront setting.

The restaurant is also convenient if you are staying in one of the nearby hotels, apartments or resorts. And if you have been diving or snorkeling along Bonaire’s west coast, it is an easy place to finish the day with a meal by the sea.

About Breeze ’n Bites

Dutch owners, local roots and a Caribbean atmosphere

A restaurant is more than its location and menu. The people behind it matter just as much.

Breeze ’n Bites is run by Dutch owners Dick Bos and Frank Rustman, who bring their hospitality experience and European background to the restaurant. They work together with a team that includes local employees who know Bonaire, its pace and its hospitality.

That mix has naturally shaped Breeze ’n Bites.

You may recognize European influences in some dishes, alongside Caribbean and Creole flavors. Service is professional but informal. The setting is beautiful, but the atmosphere stays relaxed.

You can arrive for a special dinner, but you should feel just as welcome stopping by for lunch in casual island clothes.

That balance is an important part of who we are.

A restaurant for visitors and Bonaire locals

When researching where to eat in Bonaire, it is easy to focus only on restaurants aimed at vacationers. We like being a place for both visitors and people who live on the island.

Travelers come for the sea view, fresh seafood and sunset. Residents return for lunch, dinner and special evenings such as Lobster Night and Burger Night.

That gives Breeze ’n Bites the kind of relaxed atmosphere we value. On any given evening, you may find couples on vacation sitting alongside local families, groups of friends and people who have been coming back for years.

No dress code or unnecessary formality. Just a comfortable place to enjoy good food by the water.

Celebrating something on Bonaire?

A waterfront setting also works particularly well when dinner is about more than simply getting something to eat.

Birthdays, anniversaries, family gatherings and other celebrations can all be a reason to spend a little longer around the table. If you are planning something special, contact us beforehand. Depending on the occasion and group, our team can discuss the possibilities with you.

For larger gatherings, Breeze ’n Bites also provides catering on Bonaire for groups from 20 people. Menus can be discussed in advance so the food fits both the occasion and your guests.

It is another way to enjoy the Breeze ’n Bites kitchen, even when the event itself takes place somewhere else on the island.
