In July 2015, restaurant Breeze ‘n Bites opened its doors for the very first time. What started as a vision of owner Dick has now grown into one of the most beloved oceanfront dining experiences on Bonaire. In 2025, Breeze ‘n Bites proudly celebrates its 10-year anniversary! A milestone that reflects a decade of dedication, friendship, and unforgettable memories with our guests.
From the history of Den Laman to Breeze ‘n Bites
Breeze ‘n Bites is located in the well-known Den Laman Apartments building, right on Kaya Gob. N. Debrot, with breathtaking views over the Caribbean Sea. For locals and visitors alike, this location has always been a culinary landmark. Before Breeze ‘n Bites, the building was home to the restaurant “Den Laman”, where Dick himself worked during different periods: first between 1990 and 1991, and later from 1995 to 2000. Those early years built not only his experience in hospitality but also his passion for welcoming guests at this iconic spot.
For Dick, opening Breeze ‘n Bites in 2015 was like coming home. Bringing back the energy of the old restaurant while creating something entirely new. Over the years, the restaurant has grown into a hidden gem on Bonaire, a place where guests feel at home while enjoying high-quality food, warm service, dinner with a view and unbeatable sunsets.
A friendship that shaped the future
The story of Breeze ‘n Bites would not be complete without friendship. In 1990-1991, Dick met Frank while both were working on Bonaire. The two became friends quickly, sharing not only their love for the island but also a deep passion for food and hospitality. Even after Frank left Bonaire, their friendship never faded, they remained close for decades.
After the challenging Covid-years, Dick and Frank decided it was time for a new chapter. In early 2022, they joined forces as business partners and began running Breeze ‘n Bites together. Since then, the Kralendijk restaurant has been powered by their combined strengths: Dick runs the bar and service, making sure every guest feels welcome and taken care of, while Frank leads the kitchen, bringing his culinary creativity and experience to life on every plate. This unique combination has created an atmosphere where hospitality and quality blend seamlessly.
The 10-year celebration: a special menu for our guests
To celebrate 10 successful years, Breeze ‘n Bites introduced a 3-course anniversary menu for just $37.50. The response from our guests was overwhelming: many visitors, both loyal regulars and first-time diners, joined us to raise a glass to this special occasion. The feedback was so positive that we decided to continue offering a changing 3-course menu on a regular basis, now available for $39.50.
This menu allows us to surprise our guests with new flavors while keeping the experience accessible and enjoyable for everyone. It’s just another way Breeze ‘n Bites keeps moving forward, always aiming to raise the bar in both quality and creativity at our restaurant on Bonaire.

Breeze ‘n Bites is often described as a hidden pearl by the ocean. Our famous Burger Night has gained a loyal following over the years. Every Thursday, guests can enjoy juicy, perfectly grilled burgers with creative toppings and sides, all while relaxing in the breezy atmosphere of our terrace. It’s casual, fun, and one of the most popular nights of the week to have dinner on Bonaire. - Lobster Night – Every Saturday
On Saturdays, Breeze ‘n Bites transforms into a seafood lover’s paradise. Alongside our à la carte menu, we serve freshly prepared lobster dishes that highlight the richness of Caribbean cuisine. Lobster Night has become a must-do experience for both locals and visitors, combining fine dining with a relaxed island vibe.
The menu also features many international and local dishes, ranging from typical Bonairean seafood such as fresh Ceviche and home smoked Wahoo, to the highest quality meat, vegetarian food, fresh salads, and irresistible desserts. We are also known als the flammkuchen restaurant on Bonaire due to our tasty flammkuchen pizzas. They have a thin, crunchy and crispy base, and are topped with the freshest Caribbean ingredients.
